What Lumora does
Lumora is a desktop tutoring app. It teaches through a connected AI provider, tracks learning progress on your computer, and uses local voice processing. Features change during testing.
Your licence and content
You may install and use Lumora for your own learning on machines you own. Do not resell it, rent access to it, or claim you built it. Lesson content generated for you is yours to keep, share and publish, subject to the voice-model restrictions below. Lumora is for learners aged 13 and over.
Accounts and access
Keep your account credentials private. Testing access and credits are approved by hand. Creating an account does not guarantee access or start a paid subscription. Do not abuse the app, attack its providers, harm others, cheat on proctored exams, or break the law. Access may be suspended for abuse.
Learning data
Your subjects, notes and progress stay on your computer. Cloud accounts also use server-held account and credit records. The Privacy Policy explains the distinction. Back up or export local work you want to keep.
AI and costs
AI output can be wrong, even when checked. Verify information that matters, and do not rely on Lumora for medical, legal or safety decisions. Testing is free. Paid plans are not currently available; proposed prices appear on Pricing. See Refunds & cancellation for the current testing policy.
No warranty
Testing means rough edges. Lumora is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. If a lesson is wrong, a session is lost, or an update changes behaviour, we will fix what we can, but we owe you nothing beyond that effort, to the extent permitted by law.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss from using Lumora. If that limit does not apply where you live, our total liability is capped at what you paid us in the previous twelve months. During free testing, that is zero. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Voice models and their licences
The tutor’s voice uses third-party models: Supertonic-3 under the BigScience Open RAIL-M licence and Whisper under MIT. Full licence texts are installed with the app under Settings → About → Licences. The Supertonic-3 model is subject to the use-based restrictions in Attachment A of the BigScience Open RAIL-M licence. By installing or using Lumora you accept those restrictions as a user of the app.
You agree not to use Lumora, or the voice models it contains, to:
- use it in any way that breaks applicable law or regulation;
- exploit, harm or attempt to exploit or harm minors in any way;
- generate or spread verifiably false information to harm others;
- generate or spread personal identifiable information that could be used to harm an individual;
- publish or share content produced by the tutor (text, images, audio, code or articles) without expressly and intelligibly stating that it is machine-generated;
- defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;
- impersonate, or attempt to impersonate, any person without their consent, including deepfakes;
- make fully automated decisions that adversely affect someone’s legal rights, or that create or modify a binding obligation;
- discriminate against, or harm, people or groups based on their behaviour or personal characteristics, or based on legally protected characteristics;
- exploit the age, social, physical or mental vulnerabilities of a specific group of people in a way that could materially distort their behaviour or cause them physical or psychological harm;
- provide medical advice, or interpret medical results;
- produce information for use in the administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes.
